The pertinent facts about Minky.
Minky’s real name is Coco. She was born on February 1, 2004. Minky is the nickname she was spontaneously given right after she was born. Something she did seemed vaguely monkeyesque. It made me think of the ridiculous monkey and organ grinder scene in one of the Pink Panther movies. The one where Clouseau berates a blind organ grinder sitting outside of a bank about his “minky”. Some months later that I found out that she is a monkey, according to the Chinese zodiac.
Someone pinch me. This kid is almost five!
Here are some of the things Minky likes these days:
- playing with her dolls: Buddy, Ariel, Annabelle
- desserts of all kinds
- taking baths
- reading books
- playing in the snow
- tormenting Rocky
- eating snacks of any kind: candy, chocolate, animal crackers
- wearing dresses (it is almost impossible to get her to wear anything else)
- watching WordGirl
- filling plastic produce bags with fruit at the grocery store
- cooking
- Willard!

The pertinent facts about Me.
Besides being the extremely proud mother of Minky, I am also married to an adorable husband, own a dog and live outside of Boston. Last year I became a teacher and I am thrilled with my new career. People say that teaching is hard (it is) and the pay is bad (also true) but it’s the best thing I have ever done.
This blog is my excuse to fiddle around with technology.
Some random details.
- I grew up in a tiny town.
- I met Ginger Rogers inadvertently when I was twelve.
- The best haircut I ever had was in Nice, France.
- I am proficient in both French and Portuguese.
- I had a natural birth.
- I am the proud owner of a Bianchi Giro road bike and a hot Dahon folding bike.
- When I was 28, my sister and I spent three months in Europe.
- I knit.
- I love to travel.
